The South Bank Installation



The South Bank recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and in reaching this milestone we were commisioned by Architects Amenity Spaces to produce a 1/25th scale model of the Royal Festival Halls, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the famous Hayward Gallery.

These buildings have been reassessed and deemed architectural masterpieces in a contemporary urban sense, with their angles and tangents they presented a very challenging task to reproduce.

The brief included introducing architecture to children. The three building complex was chopped up and presented as a giant puzzle format and in contrast to the stark grey concrete building they were produced with a bold primary colour finish in order to appeal to children. The end result was not only of an educational interest but has generated a great fun element as the pictures testify.

The installation is to remain throughout the summer and will be used for school trips to the buildings.
